"We got the idea of starting a 'chakri business' together to give employment to women in our area. We knew that we're all good at making these things at home, but if our home made snacks reached the market we can empower women and give them a purpose. We're ordinary women who have studied a little bit so initially we had great difficulty in getting the proper licences and learn about the market. We experimented, studied about paperwork that was required and began slowly.
Even when we had a big breakthrough, sometimes the payment would come in late and we would pay our women from our own pockets --to keep them happy and occupied. Today, we have over a 100 women who's lives have changed after working...and we're only looking to grow and expand and bag bigger projects. Try one of our chakris and you'll know - it's made with handwork but mostly love and that's what keeps us going!"
